The stand is the cheap part; what you hang on it is the decision. A backdrop stand costs around thirty dollars and does nothing on its own. Flower wall panels cost around a hundred and turn any stand into the thing people queue to photograph in front of. If your budget is tight, a stand with good fabric drape and string lights behind it photographs well for a fraction of the cost. You want the photo wall. A dense panel of faux florals is what makes guests stop and take pictures, and it is the single most photographed decoration at a lot of receptions. You need a frame, which you do in almost every case. An adjustable stand handles drape, fabric, a fairy light curtain or flower panels, and collapses into a bag afterwards. If money is short, a stand with two lengths of good chiffon and warm string lights behind them photographs far better than a thin flower wall does.

Somewhere with space to stand back from it, out of the traffic path to the bar and the toilets, and lit. An unlit backdrop in a dark corner produces dark photographs no matter how good it looks in person. A pair of warm lights aimed at it changes everything.
